一、教材内容分析
This unit is from the People's Education Press Unit 8 of Volume 1 of Grade 8. This unit is around the topic of "how to make banana milkshake", and learn the usage of some imperative sentences. The central topic of this unit is to learn to ask and describe the process of making a kind of food, which is divided into three parts: Section A, Section B and Self Check. Section A provides the basic vocabulary and language structure of this unit, and it is practiced and consolidated through simple language activities. Through the study of imperative sentences, students learn to describe the process of making a certain food and do things according to the deixis. And the students learn to use the sentence pattern that How much…and How many… flexibly. Section B is the expansion and extension of students' knowledge on the base of section A. With the deepening of the activity, students understand the production of Turkey, which is the traditional food for Thanksgiving dinner in the West. This reminds the students of Chinese festivals and local snacks and arouses the students' love for their hometown. At the same time, through the training of listening and speaking, they explore the differences between Chinese and Western food culture. The teaching content is specific and close to their life. The topic can stimulate students’ appetite and arose their initiative in learning. By telling the process and steps of making, students can learn to judge the instructions accurately and deal with things in order. This unit will undoubtedly improve students' interest in using English and their communicative ability. It could improve students' ability to handle affairs and their organization.
