This unit is the seventh unit in the first volume of Grade 8Go for it. The main topic is to introduce the life in the future and robots’ function.
After this learning, students will be able to talk about their future lives and gain some knowledge about technology in the future. On one hand, through various teaching activities students can have their listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities trained and improved. On the other hand, students can develop their correct values.
The first period is an introduction analyzing different pictures and make predictions. Listening and speaking are highly emphasized in the practice. Additionally, a number of new words can be presented which pave the way for the study in the next period.
The second period in this unit is aimed at the grammatical usage of future tense marked by will and discernible features between uncountable and countable words. The class is intended to master these grammatical items by practicing and making conversations.
The third period in this unit consists of vocabulary part, listening part and speaking part. Students can divide these words into different types and use them tin different contexts while listening and speaking. Furthermore, students can take notice of the distinction between different tenses with different forms of verbs.
The fourth period is reading. Reading material is centered on robots whose functions and shapes in the future are predicted by different scientists. This topic is revoked and further discussed by students to develop their critical thinking. Reading skills such as scanning and skimming are used to train their reading abilities. After the class students will form their own ideas and express themselves by brain-storm and debate.
The fifth period in this unit is writing. Students can use previous knowledge to construct their writing outlines. Students can make use of the detailed information from sample writing to imitate and create their writings.
