The teaching material is from Junior High School English book for grade eight.
Unit 1, Where did you go on vacation? is the first unit of this semester, which principally talks about the past events . Meanwhile, students can share the vacations and their feelings with the class as well.
This unit reviews the past tense of verbs, and helps students learn indefinite pronouns and some vocabulary about activities, which are closely connected to Unit 11 How was your school trip and Unit 12 What did you do last weekend in the 2nd book of Go For It.
Because this topic is closely related to students’ daily life, they are supposed to be more familiar with the content and would be more interested in the activities. These factors would be conducive to a lively and interesting class.
After learning this unit, students will master the theme words, adjectives and target languages to talk about the vacations in the past tense, and their listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities can also be improved.
二、学习者特征分析
Students in Grade eight have learned English for just a few years, they have mastered some basic simple English knowledge, but it is still very difficult for them to put what they have learned into daily use. So some communicative activities are designed to help to practice their oral English.
What’s more, students have learned the simple past tense before, so they will be interested and be confident in this unit’s content. So the class design aims to keep up their passion and instill a feeling of success and self-confidence for students.
In addition, students at junior school level already have a certain level of knowledge, however, to some extent, they still need more expansion in this period. So I design some activities to train students' thinking, such as word contrast memory activities and classification activities before writing, which will be beneficial to the development of students' thinking abilities.
