This module is the third module of FLTRP High School English Teaching Book1. By introducing scenic spots through tourist experiences, this module is designed to help students understand the basic knowledge of transportation and tourism as well as to guide students to master the new words and language points, which will improve students’ ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The text about Alice Thompson and her friends’ first train travel for food and scenery helps the students understand transportation and various information about travel, which will broaden their horizons and encourage them to explore the unknown. At the same time, it also helps the students learn to use past tense to write travel notes and introduce scenic spots. This module consists of 5 periods.

The target students are the first grade students in senior high school whose intellectual development tends to be mature and acquire basic knowledge of English. From middle school to high school, their cognitive ability and self-learning ability improved greatly. High school English courses should focus on improving students’ spoken English and developing students’ comprehensive language ability as well as cultivate the awareness of cross-cultural communication and basic cross-cultural communication ability. Therefore, the teacher should pay attention to improving students’ ability of thinking and expressing in English. Let the students take participate in the activities actively will strengthen their ability to communicate and cooperate with others. In addition, considering the gap between students, the assigned tasks should take into account the students of all levels.
