This unit is the sixth unit of PEP education — Go for it! It is used by students of Grade 7 in the first term. This unit introduces the topic about food preferences. This unit mainly focuses on the usage of the verb “like” in the positive sentence and negative sentence, the usage of general questions about food likes and dislikes.The purpose of this unit is to let students discuss their preferences of the food with each other. In Section A, students can learn the key words about foods and they can make the simple conversations about being fond of foods in daily life. In “Grammar focus”, students can learn the countable and uncountable nouns in the word list in this lesson and the usage of “like” in the general questions. After learning the grammar, students can do some exercises in the book to master them. The first part of Section B focuses on the ability of listening and it makes students use the important words and sentence patterns to make conversations fluently. The reading part is a magazine article about Cindy’s foods a day. This part leads students to learn the important words and expressions about food preferences and it can do a preparation for the next writing part. The writing task is to use the main words and sentence patterns to write compositions. It can have students make full use of the knowledge points about this lesson to write compositions. The topic of the unit is close to students’ life, so they have the full enthusiasm to learn and this unit enables students to like learning English.
