The students in Grade eight are in a period of transition. After entering the eighth grade, the students' psychology begins to change greatly. Adolescent children think they are mature physically and psychologically. They think what they know are even more rational than their teachers, so they long for independent space and don’t like teachers’ and parents’ constraints and disciplines, especially they are rebellious to parents.
In addition, although they have been studying in middle school for half a year, they still have difficulty concentrating on class. Because compared with the knowledge of Grade Seven, the eighth grade knowledge content is much more difficult. Students are faced with greater challenges in learning, and some students thus they are afraid of difficulties and lose interest in learning. Teachers and parents need timely guidance to them.
Fortunately, they have learned a lot of language structures and can put English into practice in real life. Although they lack an adequate vocabulary, they are eager to communicate with others about familiar topics. Compared with primary school students, their abstract thinking and cognitive ability have significantly developed. The course is designed to keep them motivated and foster a sense of success and confidence.
