This unit is the last unit of the first volume English textbook — Go for it! for middle school students in grade 8, published by People’s Education Press. The topic — “If you go to the party, you’ll have a great time!” belongs to “human and society”of the three main context scopes. The amount and difficulty of the new words and expressions in this unit are at a moderate level, so comparatively students don’t have a heavy burden to memorize and recite them. In Section A, through listening and speaking activities, students can understand the new points about social activities and express themselves in those circumstances. In the meanwhile, they can improve their relevant abilities, especially note-taking and free talking abilities. As for the new grammar, the adverbial clause of condition obeys good logic and clear rules. Much stress should be laid on the tenses and structures. Plenty of exercises are a guarantee for the teacher to help students to consolidate the grammar knowledge. In Section B, listening and speaking tasks are mainly designed for students to have a review of the sentence patterns and grammar. The reading part is a difficult and key part of this unit. Students should get familiar with the key words and phrases in the texts and explore the basic structure, genre, and the authors’ intention of the passages. As a result, students’ reading speed and efficiency can advance to a large extent. Also, they can regard the problems in their future daily life in a positive way. Among the writing activities, the brain-storming part and editing step play the most significant roles as usual. Students are able to clarify their worries and compose clear linear logic in their articles. In the last part of this unit, “Self Check”, students need to refine their meta-cognitive monitoring in their learning process and regulate their study behavior.
