ABSTRACT
Richard Powers is one of the represent characters of the postmodern writers. The Echo Maker is one of his magnum opus. The protagonists of The Echo Maker are struggling in the demise and reorganization of the self image, and they can’t locate themselves correctly, just like human can’t locate themselves in the natural world correctly. The research does some introductions on the author and book at first, and then the research concentrates on the relationship between human and nature, and the self-cognition of human in the nature. The author introduces the ecological view of nature of The Echo Maker through the Marx’s dialectical view of nature. The aim is to exhibit the importance of the ecological view of nature in the literature, combined with the most serious natural problem, and deliver the right ecological view of nature to the human. It can help us combine the situation of our country, the development status of nature, and the Marx’s dialectical view of nature to achieve the sustainable development.
