Abstract: This study investigates the present situation in C-E translation of college / university name. It aims to facilitate the development of Chinese higher education on the international arena and increase the comprehensive national strength. Through logging on the main pages of Chinese colleges / universities to look through its general introduction for investigation; sorting out and concluding the original translation ways in a great number of journals and dissertations for reference, this paper poses the serious problems existing in the translation. It also discusses principles that must be adhered to during translation, including: inheritance, community, political consideration, meaningfulness, semantic structure, transparency and clarity. According to problems and rules, suggestions are put forward from administrative department and translators to standardize C-E college / university name translation.
