ABSTRACT
Harry Potter, written by Joanne Kathleen Rowling, is a masterpiece which has been extremely popular among children and juvenile readers or even adults. While the first edition, Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone was published in 1997, with its mythic plot and vivid appealing characters, most comments were highly positive at that time. Since the third volume, there appeared many different opinions, including the feminist literary criticism. Given the backdrop of the whole series, this thesis focuses on three female individuals and groups in the novel. By rebutting some of the feminist criticisms, it points out that some intersexual relationships are not intentionally established and designed. In Rowling’s magic world, social groups are not arranged and divided by gender. Rowling’s view of right and wrong, good and evil are presented and exemplified in Harry Potter’s magic world.
