ABSTRACT
Nowadays, as the new curriculum reform is carried out widely, some remarkable achievements have been reached in middle school English teaching. However, there are still some problems, such as the test-oriented teaching mode, inactive learning attitude. It is expected that there would be an efficient teaching model in which the students are encouraged to study actively. Recently, the flipped classroom teaching model, as a new teaching model, has provided some new ways and inspiration for education reform, which has drawn the wide attention from teachers for the student-centered teaching philosophy.
This paper has firstly introduced the origin and development of the flipped classroom model, and its philosophy. By the comparison between the flipped classroom model and the traditional model, the features of the new model were found, and its advantages were revealed. And then, the current situation of middle school English teaching was discussed, from which the necessity and significance of flipped classroom teaching was provided. Thirdly, the paper analyzed the implementation of flipped classroom model, and some representative examples were provided. Finally, some suggestions were provided for the application of flipped classroom model in middle school English teaching.
