Abstract
In recent years, one of the important directions of National English Curriculum is to pay attention to students’ affective factors. Teachers should put students’ affective factors into English teaching in middle school so as to meet the demands of modern quality education and develop students in an all-round way. This paper mainly studies four important affective factors which have a great influence on students’ learning. It mainly consists of motivation, attitude, anxiety and personality. The paper aims at exploring the influence of affective factors on English study of middle school students and teachers’ application on affective factors to English teaching in middle school.
This paper consists of six parts. The first part introduces current situation of affective education in China. The second part introduces the research development of affective teaching at home and abroad. The third part explains the categories and definitions of affective factors. The fourth part gives the functions of affective factors and effects on English teaching. The fifth part describes how to use affective factors in middle school English teaching. The last part summarizes the importance and necessity of affective teaching.
