Abstract: The new curriculum has a major change in the diversification of interaction between students and teachers, and among students. Questioning is one of the most main forms of classroom interaction, and also one of the common ways used by teachers to teach English. The Teacher-centered, a traditional English teaching pattern, is replaced gradually by the new teaching pattern Student-centered. Therefore, classroom questioning plays a vital role in English teaching of Senior High School. Effective questioning can motivate students’ interests in English study, increase their confidence in English study, develop the students’ self-learning ability, enlighten students to think actively, and develop the ability of language application.
However, there are still many problems existing in the real English teaching classroom of Senior High School. For instance, Teachers’ preparation to questioning is not enough; the difficulty of problems can’t meet the real demands of the classroom teaching; the ways of enlightening the students to answer questions are unsuitable; and the teachers’ feedback is inappropriate. It not only can reduce the students’ learning efficiency, but also can reduce the teachers’ teaching efficacy. And then it can affect the teaching quality, and it is also against the implementation of the new curriculum reform. The paper analyzes the problem existing in the classroom of Senior High School, and further analyzes the questioning strategies which should be adopted and implemented in English classroom teaching. First, the author analyzes the strategies of designing question planned by teachers before questioning. Second, the paper explores how to enlighten students to get the better answer. Third, it analyzes the strategies of feedback used by teachers when the students are giving the answers. The last, the evaluation strategies used by teachers after answering are explored.
