Abstract: Charlotte’s Web is a children’s fairy story written by a well-known American writer E.B. White. It tells a story of how a spider Charlotte uses wisdom and effort to help her friend — a pig named Wilbur. The friendship and goodness reflected in the book provides children with precious educational enlightenment. Since its publication, this book has enjoyed widespread popularity among children and adults. Therefore, it is of great significance to make a deep study of its Chinese versions. Based on Skopos Theory, this thesis attempts to figure out Ren Rongrong’s translation strategies adopted in his translation as well as to prove the feasibility of Skopos Theory in guiding the translation of children’s literature, by illustrating examples in three aspects — diction, syntax and rhetorical devices.
