Abstract: With the increasing globalization of the world, China has paid more and more attention to international sports events. Therefore, the domestic sports news media need to translate a lot of English sports news into Chinese. Sports news title plays an important role in the whole sports news, and since it has unique features, it is not easy to translate. This thesis tries to conduct a study on the E-C translation of sports news titles from functionalist translation theory. According to stylistic features, function, and skopos of English sports news, this thesis summarizes the translation strategies and translation methods.
