Abstract:Margaret Laurence is a Canadian novelist and short story writer, one of the major figures in Canadian literature. The Loonswas one of the stories in A Bird in the House, telling a miserable lifetime of a Metis girl, Piquette. The fiction makes Piquette’s lifetime as a major clue. Meanwhile, it makes loons’ as a second clue. The similar sufferings suggest similar fates of women and nature under the patriarchal society. Based on the previous researches, the paper analyses the close relationship between women and nature and discusses the challenges of women and nature to men’s manipulation from the perspective of eco-feminism. Finally, the paper aims to reconstruct a harmonious world between human and nature.
