This unit is from the Junior High School English Textbook for Grade Eight, published by People's Education Publishing House. It takes future intentions as the topic in this unit. This unit is close to students’ life, which can stimulate students’ learning interests. In section A, 1a-2d focuses on different words about jobs or intentions。There are a series of listening and oral activities with the words students learn in 1a. Grammar Focus-3c focuses on ‘be going to ’sentence structure and ask students to master special question sentences that starts with what/where/when/how.
In Section B, there are a series of activities about New Year's resolutions; 1a-1e helps students to get familiar with the new phrases and sentence patterns. 2b is a passage that introduces the meaning and type of resolution; 2c-2e are reading activities that help students to have a better understanding of the passage in 2b; 3b and 3c are two writing exercises to cultivate students' writing ability with the target language.

Most of the students in Grade Eight have got some basic knowledge in English learning. After one year of training, most of the students' learning enthusiasm, and spirit of cooperation are higher, and the students' English level has been greatly improved compared with the Grade Seven. Most o students in Grade Eight can take an active part in the activities designed by the teachers. Some students cannot complete the learning tasks assigned by the teacher in time and they need to be paid more attention especially when they begin to learn Grammar. Some students' logical thinking ability is not strong enough, and the teacher needs to guide students to summarize and review what they have learned in time.
