This unit is the fourth unit of PEP English textbooks for Grade One students in Senior High School. The teaching material takes “earthquake” as the theme to help students understand the signs and hazards of earthquake. The teaching material related closely to the real life. After learning, students can learn to cherish life and appreciate the people who helped them. 二、学习者特征分析

After entering the first grade of high school, most students have comparatively good English foundation and language learning ability. Their oral speaking ability has been improved. Students are more active in learning English. However, students with weaker English foundation are easy to feel frustrated in the learning process. At this time, teachers should encourage and help them in time. Students with better foundation will learn faster. At this time, teachers should design varied activities to encourage students to practice language and make progress.
