This unit is the fourth unit in the second volume of New senior English for China student’s book 2. This unit mainly talks about“wildlife protection”. Through this topic, students can use present progressive passive voice to explain the situation, so that it’s easy to achieve the communicative function. This unit contains four parts: reading, listening, grammar and writing. In grammar part, students can master the structure, meaning and usage of present progressive passive voice. Besides, students are supposed to learn lots of new words and phrases, such as “wildlife, hunt, affect, in peace, burst into laughter, pay attention to”, and so on. Reading part is about a passage of wild animals. Students are very interested in this passage because of the novel contents. On the base of new words and this passage, students can express their points of view more clearly and thoughtfully. So when they need to write, there are lots of materials available for them. This writing task is “write a letter to WWF and ask them to help you save your endangered animal”. It is very attractive for students because high school students have already had the awareness to protect wild animals. Endangered animals is an interesting topic that students can expand their thinking, stimulate their desire to speak English. After class, students can take action to protect endangered animals.
