This unit is the sixth unit in the first volume of the textbook for Grade 7 Go for it. The core objective of this unit is to talk about likes and dislikes. Around this central point, various teaching activities are designed, so that students can exercise their listening, speaking, reading and writing ability. Through the teaching of this unit, students can learn to ask each other about the food they like and dislike for breakfast, lunch and dinner with others, which enables them to express their preferences properly in communication, by using the expressions and structures in this unit flexibly. The key structure of this unit is the present tense to like, its composition of affirmative sentence, negative sentence, special question, general question and simple answers. In addition, students will learn words about food and understand the concept of countable and uncountable nouns. This unit can be divided into four periods.

The seventh grade students are in the period of youth and vigor. They are curious about new things and have a general thirst for knowledge in English. From the perspective of cognition, students have certain English learning ability after the primary school learning. In terms of learning attitude, their strong desire for knowledge will promote them to participate in the learning process actively. As for learning motivation, food is an interesting and common topic in students’ daily life, so they will be more likely to talk about it in class. Therefore, the teacher should design various activities and give students more opportunities to speak.
