This unit is from the textbook of PEP, Book 3, Unit 5.This unit focuses on mastering the words and sentence patterns which is about evaluating movies and TV programs. Through vocabulary learning in this unit, students can discuss their favorite TV programs freely, and evaluate them with flexible and independent sentence patterns. Students also can write a complete and well-reasoned film review in their daily life. They can discuss TV, film and other media programs with others independently. In this lesson, sentence patterns are the key and adjectives are also important. When teaching students, teachers should also explain the scope of use to avoid misuse and abuse. This class involves funny content, they can attract the interest of middle school students. As media and entertainment are involved, teachers have abundant resources to show students. Modern teaching equipment should be made full use to present film clips, classic lines and other audio so as to inject freshness into students' learning and allow students to go deeper independently and achieve the teaching purpose.
The first part of this unit leads to the words that need to be used in the topic through listening, and then uses the words and phrases given by listening to make oral expression, using the sentence patterns and frames given in the textbook.
The second part of this unit is to further consolidate the sentence structure and lead to grammar points by reading a dialogue.
The last part of this unit is to summarize and practice the grammar points by reading, so as to present and consolidate them.
