Abstract:The feminist translation theory attracts much attention and can be viewed in many aspects. According to the difference of the translators’ feminist mind, the same context can be translated into different versions. This thesis tries to study the influence of the gender of the translator upon the translations from the aspect of the feminist translation theory. Three main perspectives are considered, the language expression like euphemism, interjection and positive or negative words, the aesthetical standard and the subjectivity of the translators, like supplementing, prefacing and footing and hijacking.
Jane Eyre is a novel which is written by an English female writer Charlotte Bronte. Since it came out, it has been translated into different language versions. In China, this work of literature has nearly thirty versions. In this thesis, two well-known versions separately from the female translator Zhu Qingying and the male one Huang Yuanshen are compared in order to analyze the influence of the translators’ gender on the performance of the feminist mind of literary works.
