Abstract:Film and television is an important way to promote the cultural exchange between China and the West. The communication of film and television works plays a very important role in the form of cross-cultural communication. Different countries of the film and television works reflect the values of different countries, moral and other spiritual aspects of the connotation. Film and TV works have become an important means of cultural exchange among countries. Many American TV dramas have been introduced into China through translation. Similarly, excellent domestic films and TV works have been greatly promoted internationally, such as Empresses in the Palace.
This paper makes a comparative study on the English--Chinese Subtitle Translation of Empresses in the Palace from the perspective of translation ethical modes, strategies, principle, theories, and cultures. It probes into the similarities and differences between Chinese and English film subtitles translation, and explores the cultural roots of the differences.

摘要:影视,是增进中西方文化交流的重要途径。影视作品交流,在跨文化交际形式中,扮演了一个很重要的角色。不同国家的影视作品反映了不同国家的价值观、道德观等精神层面的内涵,影视作品已经成为各国对外文化交流的重要手段。不少美剧通过翻译的形式引进中国,同样,国内优秀影视作品也在国际上得到了极大的推广,如《甄嬛传》。
本文从翻译伦理、翻译策略、翻译原则、翻译理论及文化方面对《甄嬛传》中英文字幕翻译进行对比研究,探讨中英文影视字幕翻译的异同点,并探索其差异形成的文化根源。
