The public speaking, as its name implies, is a way of making your ideas public—of sharing them with other people and of influencing other people. Simply speaking, it is to make a comment on a certain issue in public. And it has 4 characteristics: the first one is that it is happening between man and man. The second one is that it has a certain sense of time. The next one is that it is established aiming to illustrate a problem. Then, the last one is that it is motivated and persuasive. Since ancient times, the numerous famous speakers from all over the world inspired the people of the world by delivering the speeches. And countless speakers step onto the stage of politics by speech. However, how can we present a vivid, humorous, attractive and expressed speech for the audience? Many speakers may have such experience. They not going up the stage yet, their hands begin to sweat, and heartbeat is speeding up, and they begin to feel helpless. However, after going up the stage, someone will be more nervous, more frightened, and more incoherent, and even some people will forget their speech script completely, and then become speechless. In the public speaking, speakers will inevitably face many unexpected situations, or the negative voice from the audience, so the speech is a severe test of the speaker’s adaptability of psychological quality. So how do we control the fear of nervousness in speech? As for these problems, I put forward some views and ideas of my own. This article will focus on discussing the problems of nervousness appearing in public speaking, and how to properly control the speaker’s emotional nervousness. I hope it can help those people who have a fear of public speaking.
Public speaking, in this modern society of psychological civilization, has become an important way of inspiring the common people and influencing people. “One who forms a judgment on any point but cannot explain it clearly might as well never have thought at all on the subject.”----Greek leader: Pericles.
Public speaking can and often does make a difference in things people care about very much. To mention just a few situations, you might give a presentation at an international conference, a product demonstration to global buyers, a toast at a dinner in honor of foreign guests, or a tour of a Chinese historic site for overseas friends or associates.
In the previous paragraph, I have introduced the definition of nervousness. Now, I’m going to make a more specific introduction to the nervousness in public speaking. As I said before, nervousness is normal. And everyone gets nervous when speaking in public. Therefore, we have to conquer it and get through it. Once we defeat the nervousness inside us, we can make a good use of it rather than be influence by it.
Everyone gets nervous when speaking on the stage. This is a normal phenomenon in public speaking. But what are the reasons that people get nervous on the stage? I conclude 4 reasons here. The first one is that the speaker didn’t prepare well before the speech. And the second one is the speaker expectation of perfection. Then the third one is that speaker takes it too seriously of the speech. In addition, the last one is that the speaker cannot make the speech itself easy and normal. In summary, the nervousness of the speech is imagined by speakers and magnified by speakers. And we should know that no nervousness can stop a confident speaker.
Overall, we have known the basic knowledge of public speaking and the solutions of nervousness through this article. Hope it can help readers or peers or all the speech lovers improve the ability of public speaking. Besides, on one hand, we have discussed the nervousness found in public speaking in this paper. And to some extent, we have solved some of the problems frequently found in public speaking. In addition, I believe there must be much more problems in public speaking waiting to be solved by us. On the other hand, as for public speaking, there must be many aspects to be improved, so I hope this paper can be continued, and more and more people can get in this field to help the speakers faced with difficulties.
